The Frontier of Change
In November of 2015, along with my co-producer Isaac Kestenbaum, I was selected to be part of Finding America, a national initiative produced by AIR (The Association of Independents in Radio) with financial support from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
Finding America pairs independent producers with public radio and television stations to pioneer new ways to report, create and share stories.
So through July of 2016, Isaac and I will be working with the radio station KNBA in Anchorage, Alaska, under the guidance of News Director Joaqlin Estus.
We'll be making audio tours that will guide listeners through the streets and paths of Anchorage. But unlike traditional audio tours, these will transport listeners to other places—like virtual reality, but for your ears. You'll hear the sounds and stories of people throughout Alaska whose lives and livelihoods are being profoundly affected by climate change. You'll be able to walk in their shoes, and experience life as they do—on the frontier of change.
